SALC’s legal advocacy includes the drafting of submissions to governments, regional bodies and international treaty mechanisms. The purpose of these submissions are to highlight frequent human rights violations and infringements on the rule of law and to recommend concrete action to address these concerns. SALC’s submissions are based on research and often done in conjunction with civil society partners at domestic level. SALC provides technical support to local advocacy initiatives by its civil society partners on issues that fall within SALC’s focus areas. SALC also seeks to build local and regional networks to coordinate submissions which reflect the views and concerns of civil society more broadly.
