Anneke Meerkotter joined SALC in February 2012 as a programme manager working on LGBT and Sex Workers Rights. She previously worked as executive director at the Tshwaranang Legal Advocacy Centre.
She has specialised in public interest litigation and advocacy on gender-based violence, sex worker rights, rights of people living with HIV, sexual and reproductive rights, access to justice and child justice. She previously worked as an attorney at Tshwaranang Legal Advocacy Centre and the AIDS Law Project.
Prior to that she worked as a legal researcher at the Community Law Centre. Anneke is a qualified attorney with B.Proc and LL.B. degrees from the University of the Western Cape. She obtained a diploma in legal practice from the University of Cape Town and an M.Sc. in Sociology from the University of Amsterdam.
