Anna Mmolai-Chalmers is a qualified researcher holding MSc Human Rights and Research Methods from the University of Essex. She also holds an Med Gender from the University of Botswana.

Before joining SALC, for 6 years Anna was the CEO of LEGABIBO in Botswana where she led the organisation through two landmark court cases, (i) freedom of association (commonly known as LEGABIBO Registration) and (ii) as an Amicus Currie in the Botswana decriminalisation of adult consensual same sex case.

As a human rights practitioner and activist, Anna has led advocacy on LGBTIQ+ rights and sex worker rights nationally, regionally and internationally. Some of the work includes presentations in the UPR.
