Who we are

The Southern Africa Litigation Centre (SALC) is a non-governmental regional organisation based in Johannesburg (South Africa) that promotes and advances human rights, democratic governance, the rule of law and access to justice in Southern Africa through strategic litigation, advocacy and capacity strengthening.

Who we seek

SALC is looking for a media intern (based in Johannesburg) to support SALC’s work and presence on social media platforms. This position offers meaningful and challenging work experience in human rights and social media engagement. The position is limited to three months. The position is unpaid.

Deliverables

  • Post content and manage all SALC’s social media platforms, including Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and SALC’s podcast platform.
  • Post content on the website
  • Circulate content using the SALC contact list on Mailchimp
  • Updating SALC contact list on Mailchimp regularly
  • Assisting staff in organising workshops and posting content on social media

Requirements

  • Proven interest in human rights
  • Experience in managing social media platforms
  • Experience in handling multiple projects simultaneously and prioritisation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; Portuguese or French is highly desirable
  • Excellent teamwork, organisation and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and reliable
  • Enrolled in a degree related to communications, public relations, and social media, or any other related field of study.
