The Regional Advocacy Programme works with African regional mechanisms, including SADC and the African Commission to further human rights and rule of law in southern Africa.
The leaders of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have dealt a potentially fatal blow to the rule of law in the region by suspending the work of the SADC Tribunal for another year – ignoring the recommendations of an independent study commissioned by SADC itself, their duty to the citizens of the region and the devastating impact of this decision on human rights and peoples’ ability to access justice.
