ZimLII: Free Access to Legal Information from Zimbabwe
30th April 2011, 12:00 pm

The African Legal Information Institute has commenced work to set up an internet-based law reporting system for Zimbabwe. The information portal will carry court judgments, legislation, bills, regulations, commission reports, academic journals and various legal information of interest.

When operational, ZimLII will be an independent entity enjoying the support of stakeholders in the legal and wider community. This initiative will improve access to justice, the quality of research, decision-making and legal education. It will also provide the opportunity for the general public to access legal information. It is expected to launch before the end of this year.

The initiative has received support from the judiciary, academia, legal profession and civil society. This project is supported by the Southern Africa Litigation Centre, Open Society Institute and Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa.
