SALC Amicus: Masupha v The Senior Resident Magistrate for the Subordinate Court of Berea and Others
16th January 2012, 12:00 pm
The submission highlights the role that the right to equality and the elimination of discrimination play in ensuring an effective response to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. In the submission SALC argues that discriminatory laws that affect women further entrench the HIV/AIDS pandemic by reducing women’s economic autonomy and thus their ability to protect themselves against transmission and to mitigate HIV’s negative impact.
