In particular, the Centre will:
- Provide on-going support and assistance to lawyers in the region who are in the process of litigating human rights, constitutional and public interest cases;
- Provide regular training to lawyers within the respective jurisdictions on constitutional, human rights and rule of law issues;
- Support, assist in, and identify prospective cases which will advance human rights and rule of law in the southern African region;
- Engage all members of the legal profession, including the judiciary, on issues of constitutionalism, human rights and rule of law and provide assistance where required;
- Promote awareness of human rights litigation as an advocacy tool, capacity-building opportunities, and advocacy for human rights and constitutionalism;
- Provide a forum through which lawyers in the region can exchange information, share best practices, and provide mutual support on litigation; and
- Facilitate the development of regional networks of lawyer and legal and human rights organizations aimed at strengthening the rule of law, constitutionalism, and human rights.
