On Thursday 15 October, SALC’s Regional Advocacy Director and Tanzanian lawyer, Emilia Siwingwa, spoke to Radio Today’s Patrick Bracher regarding the revised protocol to the SADC Tribunal. The SADC Tribunal is currently suspended and the revised protocol removes the human rights jurisdiction of the Tribunal, as well as individual access to the Tribunal. On the show, the discussed the events that led to the adoption of the revised protocol, the negative impact of the revised protocol for individuals in Southern Africa, as well as what can be done to reinstate the SADC Tribunal with its original mandate.
